Hatta’s monumental mosaic
A public commission at Hatta Dam
A monumental portrait integrated into the landscape of Hatta Dam.
The project.
The marble mosaic covers 2,198.70 square metres on the dam’s spillway. It depicts the UAE’s founding leaders, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
SAN Projects managed the production process, from creative development and artisan coordination to installation, in collaboration with DEWA and BrandDubai. The work was completed on 7 December 2023 and recognised by Guinness World Records in the category Largest marble tile mosaic (image).
