Found objects, familiar figures and an eruption of colour.
The project.
In Revive, Martin Whatson brought his stencil-based practice into conversation with found furniture, vintage photographs and sculptural objects. Colour disrupted monochrome surfaces, giving familiar images and materials a different meaning.
Rom Levy curated the solo exhibition in California in September 2017, with support from LeBasse Projects. The presentation placed new bodies of work alongside the artist’s developing approach to found objects.
